THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's needs.
