Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of court proceedings and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
