THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court proceedings and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond her legal practice as she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
